December Students of the Month Chosen

The December Students of the Month at Saint Bernard School are Grace Sullivan and Elijah Jones.

The honorees

Grace, 17, of Uncasville, is a senior who displays zeal and compassion. She is outgoing and very involved in student life at Saint Bernard. She has served as yearbook editor for the past four years, and is involved in Student Council, drama club, praise choir, fencing, tennis, and dance team. She is also a member of the Tri-M music honor society and the International Thespian Society.

Grace, a student at Saint Bernard for the past seven years, always put forth her best effort in class and is an honors student.

Outside of school, she participates in New London County 4-H Teen Ambassadors and the New London County 4-H Camp.

“The things I enjoy most about being a Saint Bernard student are the community and familiarity we all have (with each other),” she said. “It is more than just a school; we are a family that is willing to help each other no matter how our own lives are going.”

Elijah, 13, of New London, is an eighth grader who is kind and respectful to others. He is well-respected by his teachers and peers alike. Elijah plays basketball. He is a straight-A student, is conscientious and does his work in a timely manner. At his church, he helps to lead children’s classes, he does Royal Rangers at church, and participates in Boy Scouts.

This is not Elijah’s first time being recognized by his teachers; he received the Spirit Award when he was in sixth grade.

“I love the close community here. We aren’t just names on a roster. We actually matter,” Elijah said. “I’m honored that I’m given so many opportunities.”
