December Students of the Month Named
December Students of the Month
Two students have been recognized as the December Students of the Month at Saint Bernard School – John Paul Hammond, an eighth-grader, and Ryan Proulx, a sophomore.
Every month during the school year, the Student of the Month Committee selects one middle school student and one high school student for exhibiting the Xaverian Brothers spiritual values of humility, trust, zeal, compassion and simplicity.
John Paul, 13, of New London is new to Saint Bernard this year and has gotten very involved in school extracurricular activities, including drama, praise choir and string ensemble. Outside of school, he is an altar server at his parish.
“I enjoy having a school where my gifts and talents are respected and nurtured,” he said.
Ryan Proulx, 15, of Ledyard, is a member of the Tri-M, math and art national honor societies, a member of praise choir, piano studio, baseball and Student Council. According to his teachers and administration, he is courteous, respectful, and reaches out to help peers and teachers in a helpful manner while never looking for a reward. Ryan recently received the Presidential Award for his volunteer service.
Teachers say both students study hard and perform well academically. They both live their faith and are wonderful examples of our Xaverian values.
